To ensure your DME payment is received on time it is recommended that you mail your payment at least 5 business days prior to the due date shown on your monthly billing statement.
Opening & Closing Accounts
If you are moving inside the DME service area and wish to begin a new service, or if you are moving within the same service area and wish to notify DME of a new service request, you can do so by completing and submitting the Move In form available online. Conversely you can visit the DME Customer Service center located at 601 E Hickory, Denton, Texas. You can also make an online request for your service to be disconnected.
Deposits: Before your new DME service is connected, you may be required to provide a deposit. You do not have to pay a deposit if you can prove a record of good credit for the last 12 months, and pass a background credit check. Deposits are a maximum of one sixth of the service locations previous 12 months of billing.

Denton Municipal Electric (DME) is a community-owned electric provider to the city of Denton, Texas. The roots of the utility go back to 1892, when the first electric plant was created in Denton by Robert Storey. The plant was purchased by the City of Denton in 1905. DME is recognized as a state leader in the supply of power. 40% of all power supplied comes from wind, which is more than any other county in the U.S.
